Cancellations made within 7-3 days of course date will result in 60% forfieture, resceduling will only be considered in special circumstances. No-shows or cancellations made within 72 hours will result in forfeiture of the entire payment.
We will not be able to permit anyone to participate in the activity if they arrive with inappropriate or inadequate equipment, or are suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in this case no refunds will be given.

Abusive behaviour (verbal or physical) will not be tolerated towards us, other clients or members of the public, for any reason. You will be removed from the course, without refund.
In the case of adverse weather or water conditions, an alternative venue will be used. If the weather or water conditions do not allow this, customers will be offered a refund or the opportunity to reschedule. This will be at the sole discretion of the coach.
Some of our activities require a certain number of participents to run (this is usually 2-3), in the case that the activity is cancelled customers will be offered the opportunity to reschedule or given a full refund.
The company is not liable for any injury, death, loss, or damage to personal property during the activity. Except in cases where such injury, death, loss, or damage is caused by the negligence of the company, its employees, or agents.
We follow the "Check, Clean, Dry" procedure in order to protect our waterways from invasive species and encourage our customers to do the same.
Course fees cover the cost of your coaching but do not include the costs incurred for parking and river access.
Safety Policy
Helmets specifically designed for white water are required for paddling on all white water sections (bike helmets or ski helmets are a no no!!) These must be in good condition and fit well. Helmets are also required to be worn when portaging and scouting.
Close-toed shoes without heels and with good grip will need to be worn.
Wear appropriate clothing for the weather, expect to end up in the water and dress for immersion (if you want some help with this please ask, we will be happy to advise).
Buoyancy Aids must be worn at all times on and near the water.
Buoyancy Aids must be CE or UKCA marked (USCK approved is also acceptable) these must be in good condition and either less than 3 years old or regularly float tested.
Please note that we will not be able to allow anyone to participate in the activity if they arrive with inappropriate or inadequate equipment.
Coaches are to always carry appropriate safety/rescue equipment for the environment, which includes, but is not limited to; carabiners, river knife, whistle, throw line, sling, first aid kit. Other safety equipment such as a saw, splits, group shelter, pulleys and prusiks should be carried when the coach deems it nessesary.
Clients are welcome to bring their own rescue equipment (e.g. a throw line, first aid kit, sling) but if you do please make sure it is in good usable condition and you know how to use it safely (or part of your course is learning how to use it).
Clients must know how to swim, information on how to safely swim in a white water environment will be covered by the coach/leader on the day.
Risk Assesments will be in place, which have been read and understood by the appropriate persons (coach/leader) and those persons must be making continuous dynamic risk assesments throughout the duration of the course.
Due to changing conditions courses may have to be altered/cancelled at anytime and you may not get to do everything you wanted to do during an activity. These decisions are at the discretion of the coach/leader on the day and are final.
Clients must listen to the safety instructions given to them. Failure to do so will involve your removal from the activity, without refund.
If you are suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will not be allowed to participate.
In certain, rare situations, Coaches are allowed make the decision on the day that the course is inappropriate for you. It is important for you to be up front about your abilities and expectations on the booking form. If the paddler and course are deemed to be substantially mismatched you will be excused from the course but your fees will be transfered to Stephy Kayaks Credits and you will be invited back on a more appropriate course.
Your safety is our priority, closely followed by you having fun! These policies are in place so you can do both.
